Day 33: And the diagnosis is...

Friday, June 21, 2013

I had my podiatry appointment today, almost a month after my sudden onset of heel pain. The diagnosis is what I ultimately suspected: plantar fasciitis. I got a cortisone injection and some exercises to perform three times a day, and I'll go back in a month.

I'm actually pretty happy with this. (Especially the fact that, including driving time, I only lost 1 hour from work. Efficiency!) It's not something that is going to necessarily affect me for the rest of my life. I can return to my regular activities. I'll take it easy because I'm still not used to walking correctly, so my hips hurt when I walk from overcompensation, but I'm glad this is the ultimate result. I hope the shot takes care of the residual pain I have now, and I can move past this.

Hi there! I would be interested to hear what the exercises are for your foot as I have been dealing with the same thing for the past few months. Some days are better than others. If you have time, and can share, that would be great! Thanks!!

I have plantar fasciitis also- mine lasted almost a year! I stopped going barefoot even in my house - I wear some nice 'slides' with good cushion, I avoid sandals and flip flops which is really hard! and I replace my work out shoes a lot more frequently (like every 3 months) it has really subsided - my doctor didn't give me the shot ( he felt that was the next step) howevery I was given a boot to wear at night so my foot doesn't relax so much while I'm sleeping-
my advice -watch what shoes you wear- I'm back to walking/jogging, but it does sort of flare up a bit
best of luck getting over this!
I'm a fellow mighty mocha hunter too! emoticon
