I played basketball last week with my kids, leading me to do some full out sprinting and getting my heart rate up. It felt great, but I have to tell you, really odd in some ways -
I jumped for the ball, and it's like my reflexes/reactions to that are based on a body I had 25 - 27 years ago. So the timing would have been right if I still had the strength in my muscles to propel me to where my body thought it was going to be instead of the vertical jump of approximately 1.5" (that might be generous).
The next day when I was walking down my stairs, I heard the crinkling of cellophane.
Then I realized that no one was playing with cellophane. The sound I heard was coming from inside my knees.
Today I'm going to the YMCA with my son and will do some running in the pool. My eight-year-old enjoys hanging off of me as if I'm a horse dragging him through the water. As if my weight isn't enough to lug around, it actually does help me get my heart rate up if he holds on long enough for me to water-run with him.
On a different note - I'm not weighing myself today due to horrendous eating the last few weeks as if I was trying to gain weight. Instead I'm eating right and exercising, and will weigh myself in I-have-no-idea-how-many-weeks when a certain pair of my absolute largest pants become loose. And not just loose, but loose straight out of the dryer, not loose after not washing them after 10 wears.
