(Not) Serious Spirituality

Friday, June 21, 2013

This morning a member of the Meditation and Mindfulness team shared her spiritual practice and asked about others. My reply was this: For me, I feel closest to MotherFather God when I am in nature. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets burn memories into my brain. Walking along a wooded path as autumn leaves fall awakens me in a way like no other. Sitting on the porch with the cat in my lap listening to the birds and the wind in the trees centers me.

On the other hand, I don't take spirituality totally seriously. There was a funny Agnes comic last Sunday about spirituality, but since I couldn't post it on the thread, here it is:

Just realized how small SP sizes uploaded pictures, so here is the link:

Still chuckling here! "When people say I'm not spiritual I just want to punch their lights out!" So very zen! hahaha! Thanks for the laughs, Celia.

I'm with you on this one, Celia. Nature is my center, too; the mountains especially. I love driving out to the valley and even better going into West Virginia. Water is good too, I love looking at the stars and the moon. Tonight's "Super Moon" was absolutely magnificent!

Haha! "Butt loads of spirituality" is great! I am like you in that I find spiritual connectedness in nature and truly respect the balance, but as part of that balance, I try to see the lighter, funnier side to life. This comic is terrific. Thanks for sharing!

Yes nature does have a Spiritual nature to it, but i believe someone had to create it !! Also, I've had Cancer healing and feel it was a divine intervention that took place. But next week Me, Hubby and new Pup will go for a wilderness walk !! emoticon

LOL, funny! I agree, there's nothing like being outside and with nature. I live a couple of blocks from the ocean but traffic is truly insane in my country, constant honking totally breaks the mood, so to make it work I need to have my ear buds on -it's better to enjoy nature's sounds, but sometimes that's not an option in the city. I do love to go about an hour south and listen to the ocean -that is truly awesome!

Absolutely nothing beats getting out in the woodsy trails for me too. I feel a calmness and tranquility like no other time. Especially if I am alone and hearing nothing but nature sounds (hard to do when your trails run through the heart of a city -but some are far enough away from the roads for peace and quiet) My most favorite parts of trips I have been on is hiking remote trails or getting tours through wilderness settings.
    Have a fantastic Friday!
