For those of us on this side of the planet, Summer, and for the other side, Winter. Being a non-denominational Pagan, I have my own version of how I celebrate this day. Always have had my own little ritual for it actually. I try to stay awake for the entire day. There are more traditional ways to honor it, but this works for me. For me, this time of the year marks the end of the growing power of the Oak King. It also marks the beginning of the time period I feel most connected to those who have passed. I like the cyclical nature of, well, nature.
Tomorrow, we bring the camper to the campsite in Plymouth. We will spend the night there. My husband will be staying Sunday night and commuting to work Monday morning. He'll do the same Tuesday into Wednesday. His last day of work is Wednesday. He and my youngest (whose last day of school is Tuesday) will head to the camp ground on Wednesday, but I will likely still need to work one more day before I can join them.
