Today isn't a Spark-versary, but it is a sort of an anniversary for me. One year ago today (the longest day of the year!), I went back to tracking nutrition on Sparkpeople and I've lost almost 35 pounds since then.
I knew from my previous experience when I joined Spark in January 2011 that tracking would get the process of losing weight underway with relatively little pain. But after my trip to Barcelona, I just never got back "on track" and then there was the April 2011 tornado and the rest is history.
May 29 2012, I had bunion surgery and in my fear of gaining even more weight while I was sedentary with friends bringing special food (nice people, but I didn't need the calories!), I ordered Nutrisystem. For about two weeks, I ate as much of that as I wished. That probably was a reduction in calories, just because it wasn't my daily Wendy's drive-through meal, but on 6/21/12, I decided to start tracking again. Even though I discontinued Nutrisystem as I got more comfortable fixing my own food, I've continued tracking.
What can I say? Everyone on Spark knows that this is one of the most valuable tools for staying honest with oneself that exists and with a solid database of things already logged into my Favorites, there is really no excuse when I'm home (which is most meals these days). Plus, I have selected favorites, verified by the internet, from selected eating places for those times when I need to eat in a local restaurant.
This is a way of life now. To quote from IndyGirl, "There is no longer any diet wagon to fall off of. There is only the journey."
And who knows where I'll be on this journey on 6/21/14??????
