RE: Being in pain, is such a, pain in the, behind etc etc, !!!! !!!! !!!!, now more than, ever a few, weeks back i, woke up with, severe Pain in, & all down, my Left Shoulder, Arm Hand Wrist, etc etc etc.

I had previously, hurt my Left, Hand / Wrist, when i fell, down in my, Flat & had, gone up to, A&E to get, it checked out, / looked at, i thought @, 1st it was, broken luckily it, was just badly sprained.

Getting back to, the point lol, lol lol lol, i was worried, as the Pain, had been ongoing, 4 a few, days & i, was & am, also now in, continuous pain i'm, even struggling to, get dressed which, is a complete, knightmare.

So i went, up to A&E,this was on, Thursday 23rd May, 2013 @ 12.10pm, & they asked, me what had, happened which i, explained what did, happen so they, gave me a, Beige coloured Splint, to wear on, my wrist &, said i either, had 'Joints' 'Pain', or 'Age related, Arthritis' !!!!.

They also said, if the pain, becomes worse come, back which i, did do on, Thursday 30th May, 2013 @ 12.10pm, this time i, was told that, i had 'Osteo Arthritis', & they advised, me to make, an appt to, see my GP, / Doctor which, i did do, on Tuesday 4th, June 2013 i, saw her.

She gave me, sum 'Strong Painkillers', Co - Codamol Tablets, 90 Tablets 8, / 500mg Dosage, take 1 or, 2 tablets 4, times a day, !!!! !!!! !!!!, now these are, very very 'STRONG', they have 2, well known side, effects Drowsiness (, they make you, very very 'sleepy',).

Also Constipated (, they make you, 'Bloated' up inside, in other words, you can end, up having 'Toilet, Trouble' !!!!), which is soooo, soooo not good, @ all what, so ever !!!!, !!!! !!!! !!!! !!!!, & this is, what i am, currently going through, @ this moment, in time !!!! !!!! !!!!. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've only just come across this as I've MIA for a few weeks.

I completely understand your pain and frustration. I've got osteoarthritis in several joints along with fibromyalgia and a host of other things, including depression and anxiety.

I can't take any kind of co-codamol as I get all the things that you describe, having IBS the constipation is intolerable and I can't have the extra fruit that the Dr recommends. I'm on tramadol instead, which can make you feel very 'spaced out' at the start, although it gets easier with use.

I'm also on indometacin specifically for the osteo, it's a targeted arthritis drug and it's very effective. You have to be really careful though as it can cause ulcers, I have omeprazole to take to help prevent this though.

It's frustrating when you try and exercise and all you get from it is pain, I do try and do what I can though, and gentle strength training and stretches can really help.

Hope that you're doing better now.

Message me if you need to.

Ann

Melanie, I have osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease and degenerative disc disease. So I feel your pain... thoroughly. And if they make you too drowsy, don't take so many of them. I am prescribed a TON of stuff to take every day for pain, and I can only take about half of it or I would be in ZOMBIE LAND. Besides, they want to count the every 4 hours, including the 8+ hours you are sleeping. So don't wake up to take them... it's one mistake a lot of people make.

And be careful with them and the depression. I also suffer from that and have since I was 15 years old (23 years now... GEESH!), and those pain meds can be a danger to you as they are depressants. So be careful.

As for your self-cutting.... don't make me rush my passport and come and kick your arse!!! I do believe you gave me your address. LOL You are the only one that can stop it. I like to buy a carton of eggs every once in a while, write the things that are bringing me down or pissing me off ON THE EGGS, and then take them into the woods or someplace and smash them up as I yell that I hate whatever is written on the egg. It's therapeutic, I promise you! Just make sure you don't break them where someone will make you clean them all up... that's just a mess.

So hugs to you and I will keep updated in your blogs from now on. I've got you resubscribed. I will send you a sparkmail with my personal e-mail address so you can write me there if you need to. I am a huge proponent of talking out issues and I reach out to certain people when I need to. Sounds like you need the same kind of support. Does that sound good to you? Promise me no more scarring!

Hugs to you, Ang

It is aggravating to be in pain and not be able to do anything. Really, just take time to heal. You can do chair exercise and use only your lower body. At least it will keep you moving. I have had to do that. Pain meds will make you constipated. Use stool softeners. Eat a lot of fiber or use powdered fiber in a liquid. I hope you recover fast. The cast will probably help you heal faster. Ease back into exercises after you heal good. Maybe the doctor can send you to therapy. You could learn a routine with that and keep exercising your injury in a careful fashion. I feel your pain. I have been there and done that. Patience friend. emoticon Ice where the pain is worse. 15 minutes on the injury and 15 minutes off. Repeat!

Chronic pain is TRULY a pain!! I can relate especially after damaging my Brachial Plexus, my arthritic knees are now bone-on-bone and the incurable disease in my legs will prevent any surgery....being wheel-chair bound is my challenge, pain is the name of the game.

But when they ask - on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst - where is your pain. I just smile and say it's always a 30!!

Hope they are able to help you relieve your pain, to be more comfortable.

Magnesium is definately good for loosening up muscles and help with the toilet biz. Also a tablespoon of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) is good to soften up things too.

Get well soon!!

So sorry that you are going through so much pain. I also have osteoarthritis is my jaw, hip, knees, back, and neck. To treat mine I exercise and take Cymbalta. Cymbalta is not habit forming like pain killers, so this is what i requested to be put on. Cymbalta has been proven to help with joint pain, back pain, diabetic nerve pain, and depression. When the pain is real bad, there is a shot that my doctor gives me once a year. See if your doctor will send you to physical therapy because they can teach you which exercises will help with your pain. emoticon

Magnesium is my go-to supplement for pain, to relax and to go the bathroom. It may help some. I hope your medical folks can figure this out so you can get some relief!

You may want to get it checked out further. I once thought I sprained my wrist & it turned out that then tendon sheath had severed which resulted in surgery. Take care of yourself!

All I can tell you is, don't use it if the doctor says, "Don't use it." Do what ever exercise or procedures the doctor tells you to unless it causes pain. Tell the doctor of all discomforts.
I can related to this very well at this time. Surgery on the 28th of May has put me in the healing process.
Cool, I get to give you the same advice my children keep telling me:" Let it heal correctly., don't push it!"
I wish you happy healing. emoticon

This reminds me of when I had arm pain. Not only did it wake me up at night, but then my husband would wake up as well. Felt like an electric shock running through the arm (if you've ever experience that, I have) Turns out my head wasn't on straight (lol) literally. X-Ray showed bends in my neck. Went to physical therapy, which helped from the shoulder down to the elbow, but not from the elbow to hand. Turned out I also had carpal tunnel. It's been 5 years since carpal tunnel surgery, and I've not had any pain in my arm since.

I am so sorry that your arm is so painful - I broke my wrist a couple of years ago. Getting dressed was one of the toughest things I had to do - I felt like a real invalid for months after the injury - couldn't even do up my bra (sorry but true) or pull up my pants without it hurting.

how long ago was the fall and injury? did you have an mri or xray? could be you pulled a muscle in the fall or pulled apart some tendons.
or even dislocated something.
get it checked out, in the mean time, heat, for me anyway, works better than ice, i go with a heated rice bag and salonpas patches, you can buy the little small ones that stick well.
i understand about pain, ive been dealing with a broken foot since Jan, and just now getting healed, good luck and hopefully you can find some drug free relief.
