The Horse Boy

Friday, June 21, 2013

A friend of mine is driving next week from BC to Texas to take a course for 8 weeks with this man. She had a fundraiser tonight and showed us a movie about this family, their method and the families they work with. It is something else. They have these lovely horses, some very good dressage horses and they use them to work with the children. One of the things is he says you don't take the child to the horse you take the horse to the child and they even take the horses at times right into the living room. So they have this big gorgeous horse walk into the living room and start to do a piaffe (essentially trotting in place). It is something else to see.

I saw a different show than this movie. What I saw was more about their program than the Mongolian trip. But, I am so looking forward to seeing this movie now.

My friend is a real laid back girl who has worked with autistic children for 10 years. She also gives riding lessons to children and has a horse that used to be a competition jumper who soured and was bucking everyone off. He now has little children ride him, she sits on him backwards loose in the field. She is going to be perfect for this www.horseboymovie.com/Fi

(this is a trailer) at the end of this clip, there are the pics you can click on to go to another film, and i found a version that might be the actual movie. it was over an hour and a half long, but, i couldn't get a link here. if it interests you though, look for it.

Saturday I have to go get hay for my monsters. It's a 2 hr drive. I don't enjoy doing that. And I don't really have time these days to spend 5 hours getting hay. We had a guy here about 15 minutes away, but, he is having some issues with his suppliers and hasn't had any hay to sell for a couple months now. I do hope he works it out.

I can well understand your frustration about getting hay. I could never stop worrying about my hay every Summer until it was finally in the barn. That and the drought we had last year started us on cutting our own pastures for hay. Our equipment is old and low tech but at least I know that there will be hay in my barn this year.

Just loved the story about the boy and horses. They are really good for the soul, aren't they?

Hugs, Linda
