This journey is forever changing

Friday, June 21, 2013

I have been really struggling the last couple weeks with working out. I have hit a weight loss plateau and it really is a bummer. I am really grateful to have made it this far, but this rut is such a downer. I have really changed my eating habits, and grown in strength, endurance, and confidence. But this plateau business is for the birds. I know that at times we can be very hard on ourselves, but I am trying to look at the positive part of it. I figure, the fact of the matter is that I have come very far and at least I hit a plateau late in this journey and not a the beginning when I was weak minded and fragile. In the past this would have really set me back and I would be ready to give up, but it makes me know just how far mentally I have come. I hurt my knee about a week ago during my softball game, and it's now starting to feel better, so dealing with that on top of a plateau has sent me to bumsville usa, lol. But I get to go back into the gym tomorrow night for the circuit class that my trainer does at the gym. My trainer is so encouraging and refuses to let me give up. He holds me accountable and checks on me throughout the week to make sure I'm on track. That really does help me stay focused and committed to this journey. Well, I have vented enough for one night. Tomorrow I start a new phase and get motivated in a new way since my injury break and plateau. Cheers to new days, new things, new phases, and a new me. I hope that looking back on all of these entries later I will see the progression not only of weight, but of attitude and outlook. emoticon

I've been on a plateau for nearly two years! BUT my body is changing still. I'm gaining muscle and I'm so grateful that I have been able to maintain my 95 lb. weight loss for the past two years. Try to put a positive spin on things. Plateaus are not for the birds. Plateaus are a time to think and reflect and use different forms of measuring to track your success.
