Day 522: Summer Solstice!

Friday, June 21, 2013

Cribbed that from the-source-of-all-things-cribb
able, Wikipedia.

No, I didn't get to Stonehenge this morning: I keep saying one of these years I will, and I'll wear a diaphanous gown and sandals and have flowers in my (what's left of it) hair and... well. That year is not this year, but it's on the list, so there's always hope.

One year I'm going to spend Midsummer's Eve in Scandinavia, go to a festival, dance in a field at midnight - but I think I'll give the fire-walking a miss. Too old for that, methinks. Never too old for flowers in my hair, though.

Have a good'un, Sparklers - carpe diem!

I have never ever been present at any firewalking, I think you confuse us with some indian tribe...

Any year you want to come to sweden for the midnight sun - just holler... only thing you have to do it a month in advance so I can declutter my guestroom!

well here it was the winter one....and a real cause to celebrate. The nights will start to get shorter again (not that we ever have very very long nights but at moment the sun is only starting to come out when I get up at 6am and it is dark by 6pm.
Dancing all night bedecked in flowers and flowing robes should be on everyone's list of one days...

Happiest of solstices to you too! Summer solstice always feels too early to me -- like it should be in the middle of July. I suppose that's because the summer heat doesn't really set in until after the solstice -- must be something to do with the angle of the sun. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd look it up & then I'd know, & then I could tell you.

Happy Summer Morn to you! My hair's long enough and I'm just hippie enough to find the idea of flowers in one's hair very appealing!

Dance away! emoticon
