Milestone Achieved!

I'm SO excited!

The first time I took the CX Works class (core training) at my gym, I could not keep up. As in, after about 30 seconds, I was lying in a puddle of sweat on the floor, chest heaving, muscles burning, and completely unable to keep up with the rest of the class.

At that time, I estimate I could do about 10% of the exercises.

The biggest challenge, by far, was keeping in plank position: I could not do it. I tried. I failed.

If you don't know what plank position is, try this: Lie down on your stomach. Lift up on your elbows. Lift up on your knees just a little, then stretch your feet down and lift up till your body looks like a plank. Keep your butt down! Don't lift your butt up! If you do, you're not a plank, you're making a triangle!

You will know when you are in plank position when a.) your back to your butt to your feet forms a straight line and b.) every. single. muscle. in your body is quivering and you are gasping for air.

Are you in this position yet? Go ahead, try it. I'll wait.

Oh, you're back? That was fast. Go back down to plank position, and HOLD IT. Stay in that position for 60 seconds.

Now, what did you think? That was the looooooonnnnnngest 60 seconds of your life, wasn't it? Yeah, I know. It's pretty hard.

So, tonight, for the FIRST time, I managed to hold the plank position for about 50 of those 60 seconds!!!!!

If you don't think that's a big deal, that's fine. That just means you are in Cirque du Soleil, and you sleep in plank position. Or else, you didn't even try plank position. Either way - it's fine, really. I'm SUPER happy that I managed to do it, even if I couldn't hold it the entire time!

Because now I know that I will be able to keep up - soon!

YAY!!!!

Y'all are so awesome - No, I don't like planks either! They HURT!!!

Coolauntbbw, haha, it's okay, if you really want to do a plank, sometimes the butt does stick out a little. Can't be helped. I'm a little jealous, actually; it sounds like you HAVE some junk in your trunk. Unlike me. You know that song, "Baby Got Back?" I'm the opposite, "Baby Got Flat." emoticon

I'm hoping the Bodypump class will help remedy my no-butt situation.

emoticon I hate planks. Try to avoid them if possible. But, I know they are good for me, so I do them when included in a set of core exercises. emoticon

Way to go! Just the thought hurts me. LOL. But I am also recovering from knees that are bleeding internally. But what happens if your butt is too big to make a straight line? Just saying, I know that would happen should I ever try it. But kudos to you for making it!
