Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My

Friday, June 21, 2013

Here in Kansas it's hot, sweaty and well tomorrow is said to be even worse...So woohoo...

I'm not sure what we will do this weekend, i kinda want to go see my brother but on the other hand being around his fiance is annoying because all she ever does is yell at him and try to start a fight....
probably just stay at home, least its quiet..

I need to get more of a life...I have someone who kinda seeing but its not anything much and I never see them so I need to find new friends/new people to hang with its a new town to me, i just am socially retarded i guess, i dont know how to make new friends at my age, i feel old eventho im far from old..what do you do to meet new people, i live in a tiny town of less than 300 that means no civilization...

I have been-there-done-that and find that it becomes harder in a small town to make new friends and get comfortable. Everyone knows everyone and I am not everyone. Hope you have a great weekend whatever you decide to do.

Volunteer in charity work or community activities, go to church, join a class or hobby group, go to the library. Never easy being in a new place but having a dog to walk helps blend in and meet new people.

The main thing I do when I am in a new town is find a church that I like. Then talk to the people after church. That is a good beginning to get to know people. Also, if you have hobbies or children, find activities that go along with that.

Try some meetups in activities you like. That works for me.

I joined meetup ( and made some nice friends when I lived in upstate NH. I went hiking with a meetup group (safety in numbers) and still keep in touch with those friends today.
They have all kinds of groups, or you can start your own.

Hey girl, start with enjoying you. I'm shy - so I do things by myself - go swimming, running. Plays are easy. You can sit in the audience and not worry about standing out like a sore thumb - you don't need anyone to do it. Photography - buy a cheap camera and take pictures then figure out how to upload them on to your computer. I go on youtube and find dances (wobble, step in the name of love, funky chicken, belly dancing) and do it in the privacy of my home - so it does not matter if I look right or get it right.

Thank you for sharing. I think a good way to meet people and to help others is to get involved in your community; volunteer for something. It's fun!

I just moved to a new area myself and it has thousands of people, and it is hard to make friends too - too big. But you and are a good and special people so we can get out there and make new friends. God bless you to have a wonderful weekend.

I found that going to church, seeing what the library offers and looking into community events and volunteer opportunities seem to help me meet new people.
