A little kindness goes a long way

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Today has been a phenomenally bad day. Emotionally, physically, even just spiritually.

Things got so bad that my husband left to take the girls to a friend's house to play to give me time to cool down.

After stewing and fretting and cussing by myself for a while, I got up, and went out and mowed the lawn. And after I mowed my lawn, I mowed my neighbor's lawn.

That 90 minute task (a massive calorie burn to boot!) I felt a lot better, and not just because of the physical labor (I do not have a riding lawnmower.) I did a kind thing for a friend, a neighbor who has done many things for me, too. That made me feel better, and now, my life doesn't feel quite so desperate anymore.

Sometimes, all you have to do to break out of your funk is to do something for someone else.

Kindness and serving others always brings me a boost! You can't spread love and joy to others without getting some on yourself!

a workout is a great way to expend the negative energy and regroup. I'm sure your neighbor appreciated the kind gesture.

I'm sorry to hear you were having such a bad day. Sometimes we get overwhelmed by our circumstances and events in our lives that everything seems to crash at once (a feeling I'm very familiar with). I hope whatever is going on you'll find a way to accept that it is happening (acceptance doesn't mean liking or wanting it to continue) so you can find a way to change it in the future.

It's wonderful you helped out your neighbor. I'm sure s/he was glad to have it done. I hope you found some joy from such a kind act that will help ease your mind, at least for the night. Sometimes life seems easier after a good nights sleep, so I hope you'll sleep well tonight.

I love this blog. You gave me a warm fuzzy by redirecting your anger/frustration to something positive and then going even further by helping out your neighbor!!!!!
