Give It a Rest!

I read somewhere you've only got 3 choices in life: "Give up, give in, or give it all you got." unknown

I think there needs to be one more..give it a rest. Sometimes life is just too demanding, exhausting, challenging, crazy.. and it is all I can do to make it through the day. My life has been like this for quite awhile but I know I can't quit. I've traveled the up and down road of weight loss too many times.

During these times instead of feeling like a failure for not losing anything or for not reaching goal,(even gaining back some emoticon ) maybe it is wiser to give weight loss a rest and make my only goal to hang in there and work hard at Not gaining the weight back by continuing as many good lifestyle habits as possible. This helps make it a permanent lifestyle change and it also gives my body time to stabilize and adjust.

Then when life settles down a bit or a "carrot" comes along like a vacation, or a wedding, swimsuit season... that could be the time to refocus, set goals and give it all you got.

Well this has happened to me. I've finally got my carrot (a vacation) and so far
it's going well. I've set up a challenge for myself with some goals and it all seems a bit easier now. I've got a great support group here in SP to help me and believe me, I need all the help I can get! emoticon

    I agree with you...Sometimes we are too hard on our selves.Practicing newly learned healthy habits a few at a time is a good start,and even if we don't lose weight every week as we step on the scale,it's still progress. emoticon

    You are right..give it a rest..We all go through cycles of lack of motivation..then if you just try to keep following your healthy habits, and not gain, the motivation will come back. I am glad you have a vacation. Good for you resetting your goals!

    you are so right! loving ourselves includes being gentle with ourselves! and goals cannot be rigid, because life isn't. it sounds like you are going with the possible and the positive. way to go!

    i lost 44 lbs giving up grain ,sugar products at age 61. i have kept the wight off for over a year.
