Time To Grow Up

Thursday, June 20, 2013

In the near past (like yesterday) I was eating like a teenager. I was eating some things that are healthy like whole grains, fruit, vegetables, dairy, and lean meat some of the time. But I was also eating a lot of junk foods and a lot (and I do mean more than 5) of fruits through out the day. I was even getting up at night and eating things like big bowls of fresh cherries. I would eat things when I saw them on TV or read about them in a book like popcorn, sweets and crackers . There were no planned meals taking in to a count what was healthy to eat for my body.

I was counting calories and later on Weight Watchers points but I was still not eating healthy. Yes I lost weight, 33 pounds but at what cost. I really don't know what is happening with my body but I am not eating enough fiber and you know what that does to you. I have to take pills to even take a poop. That is not right.

So last night I sat down with a guide from Weight Watchers that talked about what you need to eat for a balance diet. Well that looked easy and I had all the things in my pantry and frig. So I got my note book and wrote a plan out for the rest of the week on what I would eat. It was fun writing it down and double checking to make sure I was getting all the things I needed to eat in a day right. It only took half an hour of my time and it was time well spent.

I am going to act like an adult and stick to my plan on eating healthy and stop acting like a spoiled teenager.

I know that doing a lot of planning ahead can really help. I have a friend who lost almost 150 lbs. by planning out her food one day in advance every. single. day. It really worked for her! Also, emoticon for wanting to up your nutrition and healthy food patterns!

Good for you. Hope you're drinking all your water, too. That's a big part of being healthy and making sure the plumbing works correctly!

Sounds like you know what you need to do and that you plan on doing it. Good job. That's taking charge of you and doing what's right for you. My downfall is I've been off track for so long it's not even funny. But got a good walk in today and plan to keep going with the walking and work into my other exercises. It felt great to walk outside with my friend, it was such a pleasant morning. Enjoy the rest of your day and keep up the good work.

The first step is recognizing the problem! You can do it!

There's a big difference between eating "healthy" and actually eating healthy. Good nutrition is very important and getting it right might take some trial and error at first. But understanding that you need to change your nutritional habits is the first step, and you've already done that. :)

Good luck in changing your nutritional habits!
