I hired a health care aide! Just 2 days a week:3 hours each day.

Thursday, June 20, 2013

I just hired some extra help . I am so excited! The bank book won't like it but I will be able to breathe easier! Just 2 days a week for 3 hours each. DH kinda fights me about things to keep him healthy. I am hoping this health aide can convince him to eat healthier and do his exercises. He had been in rehab so his bad habits are broken right now. He will probably come home next week.

Wish me luck! Chris

emoticon I wish I had hired someone part time to help me with my mom (with dementia) who passed away a year ago. I thought I could do it all myself and wore myself (and her sometimes) out trying.
Good for you and God bless you and all the other caregivers!
Hugs!

It's got to be a help to have someone else there. Here's hoping the outside "authority" gets him to do more of those essential tasks! I'm happy for you!

I am glad you have found someone that might work well for you. I am also happy that your hubby will probably come home soon. You needed that rest and now that you KNOW what it feels like to get some rest, maybe you will find time to be able to take care of you better now especially with the new help. (HUGS)

Glad that you found someone, Chris, and I hope that your DH will listen to her. Interesting, isn't it how how they resist listening to us!

Very happy to know that you will have some help! And sometimes DH needs to hear the message from someone other than his wife... part of it may be wanting to assert his independence. But anyway I am thrilled for you! emoticon

Good move, my Friend. I talked with a nurse yesterday about non compliant patients. They annoy nurses too. But I pray this will help your dh and you. emoticon

I am so happy for you! The respite time during those times will be wonderful for you and so worth the money. Even if it is just to go for a walk or get some errands done. Caretakers all need a break!

Chris , that is such great news!

I hope this person is a wonderful with your husband as some of the ones we have dealt with when my Mom was still alive, and when my DH fell a couple of years ago , shattering his shoulder. The gal who was his 'permanent' PSW while he needed one, was just incredible - she could get him to do anything she wanted him to do - stuff that he would fight the family about tooth and nail....

It makes everyone's life so much easier when the support staff are good, and easy to work with!

Hugs,
Kathy
