Oh my gosh, you guys. I mentioned this in my previous post, but I am astonished at how much dairy I eat. After only three days of almost no animal products (the exception being I ate some fancy granola that had honey in the ingredients list--whoops!), the landscape of my food is vastly different. Not eating dairy, meat, or fish, I am by default eating more veggies and fruit. Of course, I'm also eating a lot of calorie-dense foods like nuts, avocado, and beans, so I'll be curious to see what the scale says on Sunday!
Speaking of...I'm not weighing in this week, nor am I counting calories. I'm writing down what I eat, and that's it. Since this is a wholly different way of eating, I'm literally trying to sense when and what feels right. For example: avocado toast and fruit for breakfast does nothing to fill me up until anywhere near lunchtime. When I had avocado toast for a late-morning snack today, I was plenty satisfied until late lunch, which was a leftover tempeh wrap from dinner. Dinner was polenta w/veggie marinara on top of lots of arugula. Yummy, and I *almost* didn't miss the Parmesan! Breakfast, by the way, was oatmeal w/ flaxseed, cinnamon, and walnuts, w/ a nectarine. I'm taking in a lot of calories, but I'm also not snacking excessively, and not eating any animal fats. We'll see where this goes, and how I feel after a bit more time. Even if I don't end up being vegan, I hope to carry my awareness about dairy consumption...yikes.
Also, the pooch and I continue our 3-a-day walk schedule, which is doing us both a lot of good!
