Step Three

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

As I eluded to in an earlier blog, steps are being taken to rectify my out-of-control schedule.
Step One was the decision and plan.
Step Two was discussing this with my staff (who are happily on-board and expressed their concern about how long I could keep going with the horrific hours) and changing the message on my cell phone (advising patients to call the office during regular hours). This has decreased stress as I am not put in the position of hanging up on a patient (due to HIPPA, I can't talk to a patient when I am in another patient's home since it would be impossible to keep their information confidential).
Step Three is the next step in putting the plan into action - lightening my load. This was done today. 3 patients were moved from my monthly schedule to an every 4th month visit. That will reduce my monthly load by about 1 1/2 to 2 hours a month. This may not seem like much, but it is a step in the right direction. The other months, these patients will be seen by the NP in my practice.

I guess it is just a matter of perspective. Making a change is a big decision, affects everybody. Just knowing you do not have to make those house calls next month should make you less stressful.. You will find other ways, along the way, to get your time back. Good Job Patricia!
