Back on the healthy train

...For a given value of "healthy," at least.

I actually spent yesterday feeling pretty miserable. My stomach has become overly sensitive the past couple of years and I did something to set it off yesterday. Quite unpleasant! But it did have the benefit of completely emptying my insides, which is fantastic motivation to focus on eating well.

Since last night I've had no desire to put anything but high octane super-healthy food back into me, and since Tuesdays are my CSA delivery day that's been really easy to do. In the past twenty four hours I've eaten strawberries and yogurt, white rice with a bit of meatloaf (grassfed beef + egg + salt...simple and delicious!), eggs with mixed greens and mango, more meatloaf with some brussels sprouts, and a big a$$ salad with chicken, strawberries, feta, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

(Aside - the one bad thing about farm veggies is that, no matter how carefully I wash my lettuce, I always seem to miss at least one bug! Tonight I found a little slug in my salad. I really truly sincerely hope that it was the only one, and that I didn't eat any of his friends. Ugh! Bugs. Blegh!)

All in all it has been a good day. My stomach has settled, the eating has been good, and I've gotten in my 10,000 steps. I'm a bit sore from yesterday's upset-stomach-ness so no intense workout today, but I'm going to do some squats and lunges and then hopefully get out for a run tomorrow, weather permitting.

    I appreciated your blog...I have GI sensitivity too and it can really knock me off my positive path. I like your thought to see it as a new start to getting back on the healthy train. Hope you had a better day today...be well. emoticon

    I also enjoy completing emptying my insides every now and then! Feels good!
