(Kind of) The Bear

I woke up feeling pretty great on Sunday morning, which was surprising because I kind of drank a lot on Saturday night. Oops. I wasn't sure if it was the greatest idea to go to CrossFit, but I went anyway and took it a little easy. I just wanted to MOVE a little and do something. It was actually a great WOD for this:

AMRAP – 5 Minutes:

3 Power Clean and Jerk (155/103)
5 Burpees

Rest 5 Minutes

AMRAP – 5 Minutes:

7 KB Swings (72/53)
5 Burpees

Two 5 minute WODs. No big deal. I went a little lighter with the weights (73# for the clean and jerks, 35 for the KB swings) and paced myself a bit. I think I did 5 rounds for the first AMRAP and 6 for the second.

We kind of did 2 different WODs again on Tuesday.

For Distance:

Tabata Row (x10 intervals)

The last time I did Tabata rows, it sucked. This time, it wasn't really that bad until the last few rounds, and by then it was almost over. I ended up with 1024 meters.

1 Minute on, 1 Minute off, for 20 minutes:

1 Power Clean +
1 Front Squat +
1 Push Press +
1 Back Squat +
1 Push Press (from back)

I was a bit confused at first, but basically you pick one weight and do the Bear complex (listed out above) as many times as you can in one minute, then rest, then pick up where you left off for another minute, etc. I used 73#, but was worried it would get heavy, but it ended up being fine. I was even able to do it as a cluster + back thruster almost the whole time, although I did separate the push presses out towards the end. I LOVED this workout. It was like the Bear, but more fun and less horrible because you got to rest. I got through the complex 34 times. I did 5 the first minutes, 4 the next few minutes, then 3 for rest. We ended class with some shoulder mobility.

I was thinking about going to Oly class, but am waiting to hear back from a friend about plans tonight and realized it starts in 3 minutes...Oops. I guess today is a rest day. I just got back from a nice 1 hour bike ride at my favorite park. I had to soak up all the beautiful weather we are having here today because it's supposed to rain for the foreseeable future :(

    We do the Bear Complex, but not often - and I always seem to miss that day so I have never tried it.
