Today my youngest turns 16!
Last night, he had a double header...but the last game got cancelled...which freed up time for him to play on his other team the last 4 innings! It was FREEZING last night too! They one the first game and lost the second game.
Today, he is playing the first of the double header and will miss the other team's game.
He plays for his school - Blackhawks, for the boys association league - Tigers, and for a Spanish/American adult team - Cubs. The Cubs play once a week.
For his birthday, his older brother and girlfriend took him out to see Superman in 3D. Today, I took him to get running shoes, deposit his birthday checks, shop at Walmart, and get Dairy Queen. I got my small Oreo Shake. Lots and lots of calories! grrrrr....
He also got an amazon gift card and Fandango movie passes. Sometime in the near future when all the kids can be home, we will either go out to dinner of his choosing or cook his favorite meal.
He told me he is not ready to get his driver's license, so I am pleased that he is mindful enough to know that. He did drive all over town with me today. He still needs to practice parking and parallel parking. Other than that, he does quite well! However, I do want him to experience driving in to Chicago one day...definitely on a very non-busy day!
I walked 3.3 miles this morning since I did not want to push myself too much. I felt some pain in my hips and I decided my body needed more resting. Tomorrow, I may push to 4 miles.
I also was able to get into my jean shorts for the first time! They feel comfortable and are a size smaller than my long jeans! They are old and with elastic, but still, last month I could not even button them!
For the next 2 weeks, my walking will be severely curtailed...unless I do the experiment that I want to try walking very early in the mornings. I am covering a lady's shift from 8:30 - 2:30 every day. This is on top of my other schedule, so I will be getting serious overtime! Cha-ching! (though I wish I had a new job by now in my career that I trained for...sigh)
I hope everyone is enjoying their day!
