Wow You Guys Are Awesome

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

I mean, I don't know why I expected anything else, but when I posted my blog about a blog the other day, everyone was so supportive! And wanted to see it! I'm so flattered. I just wish I could write in it all day every day. I need to get a new entry up soon. I'm working on the first entry on macromolecules, part 1, proteins.

The thing is I just need more time!!!! Aaaargh! Which is kind of weird, actually, I have TONS of free time, I just choose to not utilize it well. My current job is pretty easy, okay, really easy, and on an average day, I might only do 3-5 hours of actual, real work. On slooooooow days like I've had for the past month? Maybe one hour of actual, real work. But for some reason I am hesitant to pull out the books because when I am just sitting at my computer, I can look like I'm doing work, but if I have textbooks and notecards out, it's pretty obvious I'm not doing anything work-related. Actually I don't even know why I care. What are they going to do, fire me? I'm a temp. I've been expecting to get fired for 2 and a half years now.

Anyway, I work, I drive 70-90 minutes each way to get to and from work and then I go to CrossFit after work... so my days are 13+ hours long and I also require a full night's sleep. So at night I have about 1.5-2 hours to shower, eat, and do chores before I go to bed. I'm not complaining, I like my job and I love CrossFit, but that doesn't change the fact, I do not have a lot of free time during the week. I'm not sure how I am going to manage studying for my biology GRE and keeping up with a new blog if I don't start using some time during the day.

Anyway, I hope to get a few good entries up soon and then maybe I'll share with everyone who wants to see, it was really so nice that you asked. Seriously made my day.

Workout report, last night at CrossFit sucked, man! And not in the good way! I was totally not even there, I couldn't do ANYTHING. Couldn't lift weights I have lifted before, did worse on Tabata box jumps than I did on my SECOND day there. But everyone has off days... hopefully I will bring my A game tonight!

Thanks for coming by and if anyone has any good time-management tips, I will be all ears! emoticon

Uh oh! Sounds like you're inching towards overtraining? EAT ALL THE FOOD!! hahahahaha. Your time sounds so full! I'm kind of in the same situation, myself. I have to rework my schedule otherwise I end up working out while tired and get injured. Or I end up skipping workouts in favor of sleep. Neither option is good!

I am "Mr Time Mgmt"....it's the only way I can get all I need to done. What works for me on big projects is backward planning. Pick the date you want to get done, and work backwards with things that have to get done to meet it. If you want to have 6 blogs done by the end of August, then have all the topics figured out by the end of Jun. then you have to knock out 3 blogs in July & 3 more in Aug. The first 2 blogs will probably take the longest until you get in to your groove, so give yourself 3 weeks to do the first 2 blogs....etc, etc, etc.....this is one man's plan

I totally understand about "working" for 8 hours, but it's really like 2 hours of work. Yep, that's me all day.

Hope your next CrossFit session goes well.

I'm best with Time Management when I make detailed lists!
TO DO lists with rough time frames (gotta be realistic!), to make sure it all gets accomplished!!!
Scratching a big black line through a task that needed to be done, is rewarding feeling (calll me CRAZY) but those "to do" items can eat a hole in you if you let them! emoticon

How about using the time in your car for something other then listening to music. How about GRE biololgy study guides ON TAPE?! (I dunno, WISHFUL THINKING!!! LOL) I personally have found that Talk Radio or listening to TED talks when I drive is a much more effective use of that time!

GOOD LUCK!

If anyone gives you good tips, pass them on, I have a terrible time with time management. Sorry about CrossFit, I am sure you will bring your A game tonight.

I am the same way... my time management sucks. Although I do have lots of little "projects" to do, they are not pressing so I do a little bit here and a little bit there, and I am only really busy when I have appointments. Today I had one appointment which lasted 30 minutes, and my only other sole responsibility today is to take phone calls... this leaves excessive amounts of time to browse pinterest, sparkpeople, etc.... I suck at time management so I really can't help you, haha!
Then I have days like Friday where I know I am not even going to have time to breathe between appointments all day! So hit or miss here... and I don't even have to "pretend" I'm working because I'm the only person in this office most of the time!!!!
Sorry to hear that Crossfit sucked last night. Tonight you will be on your A Game and you will bust it out, I'm sure of it.

That's what I love about Spark. All of the support that is offered from people you've never met in person, who are on the same path as you, just at different points on that path. The support doesn't end with weight loss or maintenance either, it goes into every other facet of our lives...or at least what we share on here!
