Activity and Granddaughters Update

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

I've been taking granddaughter Natalie, 6 year old kindergarten completer, to gymnastics day camp each weekday morning since school was out. Some days her sister Gwen, 2.5 years, and I have played in the playground (Peterson Park or YMCA) or on the basketball court before she goes to the Y nursery while I workout. One day last week Gwen and I swam at the Y and she wants to do it again, so we will. We spend the afternoons at home; sometimes she splashes in our play pool; sometimes we run/walk down our street or ride her tricycle in the driveway. She's not taking naps these days, but we do have some quiet time, usually with stories.

Yesterday Natalie had a mishap. She had a collision with a child in gymnastics, got a cut on her eyebrow, and had to go get it glued (not stitches - they glued it!) So I thought I might have her all day today, but she was feeling good and went back to gymnastics camp today. I don't think it is even going to leave a scar.

I run my two weekday runs often at the Y on the treadmill and on Saturdays I do the Galloway run outside, at least that's the way it worked last year. This Saturday my nephew will be running a 5K and I hope to get my run in and still see him finish. Yesterday I ran and today I did an elliptical workout. I'm eating pretty good right now and not stressing about it.

Well, there's my update. Hope everyone is having a healthy, active, and happy day!!

That is fantastic your grandchildren are keeping so active! Great influence from Granny? I have never heard of glue before -sounds wonderful and painless too! Glad she felt well enough to get back into it right away -tough stuff!
Nice to hear you are comfortable with how things are going with your training and eating! Keep up the awesome work!!

You're such a great example of a healthy lifestyle for those kids! Doesn't it just twist our insides when our little ones get hurt? I'm glad she is bouncing back so quickly.

sorry about the little one's boo boo. That is amazing that they glue things now. technology continues to improve.

I must say though that now that I have had a set back, I am jealous of the time you get to spend with your grandkids and how you feel well and can run. I am so frustrated and so worried that I won't be well enough to travel to Disney World with the family. I just want to be healthy!

I am happy for you though. So lucky you are healthy.

I'm glad Natalie is okay! I hope you and Gwen enjoyed the pool. My daughter comes in tonight to stay for a week. Maybe we'll see you at the Y.

You juggle a LOT and you juggle it WELL! Plus, you are introducing your granddaughters to an active, healthy lifestyle at an early age. It's all good!
Glad Natalie is on the mend already and wanted to go back to camp. Kids heal so fast! I didn't realize glue had become common; I'm still mentally in the tape era. :)

Ah, you are so great to take such good emoticon care of your granddaughters. I have never experienced the glue thing instead of stitches. You are also taking great care of yourself which is so important. Keep up the fabulous work.

Glue is really common now -- no stitches to leave marks! I just got two new kittens and they glued their incisions from neutering. I guess we've all had experience with just how well super glue bonds to skin.
