Raspberry Bush

The is the raspberry bush in my garden. I can't wait until the raspberries are ripe!

    I had raspberries as well for a while in my garden -- and the fresh kind are the best kind, without question.

    I did notice, though, that even though I bought a "needle-less" variety, they will revert back -- so you need to trim off the stems that grow with needles as they come up.

    Also, this is a spreading root weed of a plant -- so over the years it will try to take over your garden. When you see a sprout closer to your other plants, trim it. Better yet, get your fingers dirty and pull the entire root system until it is back underneath the leaf coverage of your main plant and cut it there. Otherwise, you'll get more raspberry plant than you want.

    I'm no green thumb, but this has been my experience. Enjoy the berries!
