Day 6- Oops... Mexican

So I donít know if many people read these at all. Theyíre definitely not the most entertaining blogs, but writing some thoughts down at the end of the day is nice to keep me conscious of my decisions, and also to not overly freak out about what Iím eat because Iím 80% sure I figured out that my monster binging trigger is me being frustrated with my eating. Talk about a double edged sword.

Anyway, today started awesome and ended awesome. I got up at 4:45am to get a light lift in with the dumbbells inthe fitness center before leaving for work. After work, I changed and went immedietly to the Brazilian jiu jitsu gym to see some old friends and training buddies. That was a great time and I loved getting another roll in with those that were there.

The mistake happened when my old team took me out for lunch. We went to a Maxican place and I felt I earned a nice, big meal. I knew I was going to Bjj after work and if I did get anything for a late night dinner, it'd be a strawberry chicken salad from Wendys (very good). Also, breakfast was at McDonalds so my only feasible option was an egg McMuffin and a milk. Nowhere near enough protein, even after just a little lift.

So knowing I had a lot of calories to play with and likely needing them, I got a good sized meal. Nothing huge, I just ordered a chipotle chicken thing and actually ate the rice and beans that came with it. It was perfect, I even let myself munch on some tortilla chips with the queso dip appetizer.

Then my old team, decided to play a little prank on me. Apparently they told the restaurant it was my birthday so out comes the whole staff with the big, giant, sparkly sombrero and they put that on my head, and start singing happy birthday in Spanish. I was laughing so hard and then they started shoving the whip cream and chocolate from the fried ice cream all over my face because apparently my old mentor told them to do that.

Haha, well I had the best of intentions and just took a couple bites of the fried ice cream before excusing myself to the bathroom to wash my face, but ice cream is my biggest weakness and when I got back to the table I finished it unfortunately.

It was a very fun lunch, but I didnít really need to indulge in the dessert. Aw well. Right after, I felt like a million bucks cause of the sugar rush and belly full of carbs, but then I think it was just too much artificial fat for my body and I got a stomachache for about 2 hrs.

After the Bjj and going to Wendys with one of the guys closest to me, I stopped at a grocery store on the way back to the hotel. I picked up some plain greek yogurt and beef jerky. I meant to do this monday, but we never had the time. This should solve the problem of getting hungry mid-morning. The after noon problem can be solved by either the jerky, or buying a salad around lunch time when they're out and keeping it in the fridge until 5 if I need it.

Gonna have to keep the carbs way down tomorrow. Seeing some friends tomorrow night and with this group, there will be cookies and sweets galore around. I can handle it tho, especially with the Greek Yogurt, jerky, and possible salad now.

    I just did a little catching up :) I definitely need to take some pointers, I've recently had to travel a lot more for work and I tend to look at it as excuse to eat whatever is available and of course, unhealthy. I love that picture, lol! So cute, you are such a good sport, I'm sorry it was a little trigger but that was so worth it haha.

Just keep it lo carb like you plan and you'll be fine!

    LOL too funny! I know what you mean about the stomach ache...every time I eat something comfort food (like Mexican food or ice cream) my stomach kills me for hours!

    I've also been reading all of your recent blogs (I guess I should probably comment on them so you know you have a bit of an audience emoticon ). It's good to hear how others handle the traveling situation with food and exercise. So far, I think you've been doing a far better job sticking to your food and fitness plans that I usually do. I've finally created the habit of waking up earlier to get a little workout in before work, so that will come in handy on my next trip (whenever that is). That way, whatever happens after work, I will still have gotten my workout in for the day.

    I've been reading all your blogs because nutritionnally-wise you're quite the good example for me (and I'm sure for a lot of other people). I get good ideas, tricks and tips in your blogs and I love reading about your travels and all the efforts you make because it inspires me. :)
