Eating this and that all day - happens to you?

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

I was reading EBWHAT's blog, and I just realized, today was another day, when I couldn't really stop eating this and that.

Little of this, little of that.

Separately, each item was totally healthy, peach, low fat ham, banana, granola bar, apricot. I'm not really hungry, it's more appetite. I mean, I don't have headache, no stomach signals, no real hunger, just 'it feels like another bite of something'.

However, they were not really part of any regular meal, not even a snack-time, and altogether they don't really make to a healthy eating plan for today.

I still tracked all of it in the nutrition tracker. I'm within the range for maintenance, but my -500 kcal to loose a bit of weight is gone. I can cut back for dinner, and make a bit more of exercise, then it'll be shiny again. I like to track it, because it alerts me when I'm going high.

Somehow, the little, individual pieces here and there, they are not in my attention. But when I track, I do remember them. Tracking keeps me on track.

How do you avoid such eating patterns?
Any tips and suggestions welcome!

This is from Sunday, a bike-walk-bike combo near the river Raba.

Nighttime is problematic for me. I can do very well all day long, and then totally lose it at night. Awhile back I'd started going to bed early and that seemed to work. That's harder to do in the summer, but I think I'll try. I do track everything as well.

That scenery on your path is gorgeous.
I am impressed that you are so studious about tracking; it sure makes you
very aware of your behavior and then you know how to adjust for it.

I am regimented on only eating breakfast, then dinner. No lunch.
Do you think this is doing more harm than good?

Sometimes you just have days like that--maybe your body is in need of certain nutrients that wasn't in your other food choices. Main thing is that you tracked it and kept your accountability! Good for you....It's a journey each and every day! Take care....

I've been in the same pattern. I also track, but have found myself in the upper range every day. I've been snacking, even though healthy, when I'm not really hungry. It's time to start looking at why I'm doing this. I know its worse during the summer because I'm home on summer break and won't be back to work until the school year starts.

Just like you, I track. I try to track as I go, and I know how much I should be eating through the day. Sometimes, even then, I find myself eating from stress, boredom, or appetite; but most days, I can make it fit into the total calories, carbs, fat, and protein ranges. A few time, I'll end up like you did today and have to make uncomfortable adjustments late in the day; remembering those uncomfortable adjustments helps me avoid the earlier eating on other days.

I graze when I'm bored, stressed or avoiding doing something. It really can wreck your efforts. I find that when I track as I go, it isn't as much the total calories that stop me, it's the effort of tracking it!

Ugh I can be the same way sometimes! It helps to track because that way I think to myself, "do I want to eat this because then I have to face it in my tracker?" It helps me at least! At least they are good choices though, but you're right; grazing all day doesn't lead to an overall healthy lifestyle.

Any wild animals that are going to run out of the brush?? Just wandering.

I take a mid morning fiber bar and that keeps me full and satisfied. I also drink a lot of water. Hope that helps.

By the way your eating is good foods!!!
