Bought a Bike!!!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

I am so pumped, can you tell? I get to cross another thing off of my 25 before 25 list! I bought it yesterday and rode it to work and back to see how long it would take me. There was a crazy storm brewing over across the river and I was pretty certain that I would get caught in the storm in my tank top and capris and be soaked. I rode to work and back (a total of 10 km) in 40 minutes, and got home just before the first few cracks of lightening and booms of thunder. I got to watch the storm from my window, as huge pellets of hail and rain hit the ground, lightening lit up the entire sky and the loudest thunder I'd ever heard shook the building! The storm passed in less than a half hour, as they usually do in Alberta, but it was probably one of the most intense storms I've seen!

So my bike ride was AWESOME, and I was so excited to get up and ride to work today until I woke up and my butt hurt so bad! Not the muscles, but the bones! AH! I said to my hunny "umm I think my butt bones are bruised" and he just laughed at me and said "ya I knew that would happen". UGH! Seriously? Well since my food is already batch cooked for the week, and since I didn't need the extra 15 minutes to ride to work, I got to sleep in an extra hour and was ready for work early so I got to snuggle with Gully in the bed and was still early for work (shhh, that's a secret, my boyfriend said that Gully's not allowed on the bed anymore).

I hope that my butt bones are better tomorrow so I can ride my butt to work!

Your bike is the same color as mine. LOVE IT!!!

This butt pain is a totally normal feeling. I get it everytime I go out on my bike the first few times in the season. I laugh & say I need to get my calluses back, then it won't hurt so much. lol. At least it's only your sit bones & not other areas...Yes your 'who ha' can get sore too. emoticon emoticon

The best purchase I made was a gel seat cover from United Cylce. I'd bought one from Wal Mart & it fell apart with in a 2 months. I then went to a biking store & spent $45 on a gel seat cover. I cringed at the price (I'm cheap) but let me tell's worth every penny!!! I've had it for 3 years & it still looks & feels new.

Enjoy your new bike emoticon

Awwww if I am home sick I let my least-hairy cat sleep with me in the bed. But since he's not allowed in the bedroom he is much more interested in exploring the secret room than sleeping with me!

I'd get a seat cover (gel?) or exchange the seat. Your butt does get used to it, but (tee hee hee) sometimes it's just worth taking care of your back end :)

Congrats on the bike!

LOL about the dog not being in the bed. We have a pit and a yorkie and they are the most spoiled things in the world. When we moved into our home 2 yrs ago I was all for no dogs in the bed. But after maybe, maybe 2 nights they were back in the bed cause it was heartbreaking seeing them looking up at you on the floor LOL even though I know they are perfectly fine and comfortable in their own doggy beds.

Love the color of your bike too!

Buy yourself a GEL seat cover for the commuter. I went for my first bike ride of the season on Sunday (13K) so I literally feel your butt pain!!! Ughh. But yes, it does get better in a couple days... Try a hot soak in the tub tonight!!!

Congrats on the new wheels, they are very purdy!!! emoticon
