So last September I moved from out in the suburbs in a quiet part of town to the north end of the next town over. I've been nervous to go out and explore because I knew every street in my old stomping grounds because I grew up there- and the new town and people are still strange to me. I've been going up to the riverbed with the dogs because there's no people, but I can't walk there too late because there isn't any lighting and I don't feel safe walking just me and the dogs after dark.
Today I decided to branch out and explore the streets around my house for the first time. I found a nice 3 mile walking loop that takes me through a nice neighborhood, circles around a drainage basin (can hear the bullfrogs chirping!) and goes right back to my house. It's well lit and I feel comfortable walking in the evening hours even if it's just me and the pups. I think I found a new evening walking path!
Sometimes it pays to break out of your comfort zone and explore a little.
