Fairy Tales

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

I am not sure how to introduce myself. My neighbors call me "Mama Goose." In high school, everyone called me "George." My mother called me "Cynthia" when I was in trouble, but I go by "Cindy." With all those names, I still carried one label: FAT. I tried every fad diet for years, only to regain the weight. It seemed that loosing that label was a fairy tale.

About a year ago, after the death of my parents, I got to my highest weight ever. I resolved at that time, that I would not stay at that weight, but did not have a clear goal. I have lost 50 pounds, but I have been at a standstill for about 6 months, gaining and loosing the same 5 pounds. I knew I needed something to get the ball rolling again. I needed another major life event to get motivated. Then it dawned on me.........
I am nearly 60 years old.

A plan was made....I would get down to my college weight by my 60th birthday. I have to loose 80 pounds to meet that goal, but I have a year and a half to achieve it. I only needed to figure out how I would get there. I hope this site will help me.

I want to live happily ever after.

Good for you Cindy/Cynthia/George! This is a great site for motivation and encouragement, just keep coming and checking back in.

I know you can meet your goal - you have a great start on that already. You sound like a woman of determination.

Keep us apprised of your progress (that's a great motivator - to know others are watching and praying for you!) -

You have done a great thing for yourself by coming to this site, it and the people who use it are amazing and available and able to help, listen, cajole and even sometimes help you face things.

Welcome Cindy, love your photos and your attitude --any time you want to vent this is the place and someone will always listen.

You have been through a lot and I'm so sorry about your parents.

Plateaus come with the territory and their duration is as much as enigma as how quickly it all changes and you are off again in losing :) Try to embrace them and look back at how far you have come and look forward to new heights that are coming.
