Day 5- second trip

So my second business trip started today as my plane took off at 6am. Oofdah. I tried some overnight oats (.5 cup greek yogurt, .25 cup oats and milk, bunch of chopped fruit) It was absolutely delicious and easy to grab and be out the door since I made it the night before. Weird thing was, I was craving something after eating it as I gathered up my last few things and wasn't able to stop myself from grabbing a cheese stick to satisfy it. Aw well, maybe I just wanted some fat I thought.

Then on the airline, everything on the little cart looked delicious and if I were alone, with my current mindset I may have binged out on all the crappy little cookies. I grabbed a little thing of peanuts knowing I had to fix my mindset. Something was wrong and I wasn't sure what. A cheesestick and peanuts aren't bad by any means, but its why I grabbed them and also I don't need to snack like that when I'm trying to keep the cals down to enjoy eating out for free.

I don't know what it was, but the feeling passed and when I finally got to where I'd be working it was time for lunch. I'm really proud of this one, got a jerk chicken sandwich and while the big french loaves worried me, I was pretty hungry and a sandwich sounded good. AFTER I ordered, I saw they had an option for a wheat pita instead of the rye bread I initially selected. I tracked down the waitress and got my order changed and that sandwich was a good size and tasty.

I'll be working 12-14 hour days, and man did I get hungry by the time we left the mill at 7pm today. Went straight to a sushi place and despite my best attempts (I ordered just plain sushi) we all ordered to share and everyone else got rolls. I was hungry and the various rolls tasted so good I had more pieces of the rice wrapped fish than I wanted to.

So today went pretty good I guess, although I got hungry a couple times throughout the day which normally never happens to me. I hope I can do better tomorrow. I'll need to keep the meals a little smaller to make room for at least 1 snack because I can't work from 12-7:00 without anything. I've got 100 cal bag of popcorn and almonds in my backpack as well as a cliff bar for emergency. Unfortunately, they have a spinning vending machine that can often be full of fruit or little side salads as well as sandwiches, but all this one has is those horrible gas station microwave burgers and a crappy bologna and cheese sandwich on white bread. *shudders

Currently my alarm is set so I can do a little lift with the dumbbells in the fitness center in the morning, but if I'm too tired I won't mind getting that extra 30 min of sleep so I can be alert at work.

    I hate when I have those days where I'm just not satisfied. It makes you wonder what you ate differently the day before and whatnot. It may just be waking up extra early to get to the airport. Traveling for work is hard, especially when you're working such long hours. Just try to make the best choices with the options you have available since you don't have control over where/when you eat. Your emergency snacks in your backpack are a great tool to prevent you from over eating when you go out!
