Creating My Perfect Smoothie

So in an effort to boost my fruit and veggie intake, and slim down one of my meals a day I've been having a smoothie everyday; generally for breakfast or dinner since I'm not at home around lunch time. The only problem I kept having was after adding my protein powder they would be SUPER fluffy, and airy....not very tasty.

So I'm using this week to create 2-3 really good smoothies, and get my blending technique down. So far the best tip I've gotten was to add the protein powder last and just lightly pulse until its stirred in, and use more water.

Ideally I would like to have a "base smoothie" that I can add more fruit to as the summer goes along, so we will see what happens!!!

    Yep add the protein powder last. My favorite smoothie and most people frown at but when they taste it hmmm they want more: Spinach 1-2 hand fulls, banana 1-2 depending on how many servings I'm making, chocolate protein powder, peanut butter and chocolate sugar free syrup. Taste like chocolate peanut butter shake. Sometimes I leave out the peanut butter and add coffee. This is by far my favorite and I get my veggies and fruit in for the day. I also love mango, pineapple blend with vanilla protein powder. Check the web there's so many free recipes you just have to keep experimenting, you'll be surprised how creative you will become.

    I totally love smoothies! I have a "base"smoothie: 1 cup vanilla, sweetened almond milk, serving of protein powder, and a banana. I have been experimenting with adding different fruits. Everything is good except Kiwi. I love them, but they give a bitter flavor to a smoothie. I've also been adding a cup of spinach--no taste and lots of nutrients. My most recent smoothie discovery is-----chocolate almond milk! Have fun with your experiments!!
