Two close calls too many!

Monday, June 17, 2013

I've been suffering with my shoulder for a couple weeks now and decided I had to make the 45 minute drive to see my Chiropractor. I love my chiro. He's been working on me for about 12 years now. If it were not for him and his massage therapist (a 70+ year old Japanese man who specializes in Chinese torture techniques) I know I would not be moving today. Anyway, he told me to come'on in and he'd fit me in. He really cracked me up.

On my ride home, I had a couple really close calls. .. . you know, the sphincter slamming kind. The first was when a guy in a pickup truck (probably on his cell phone emoticon ) took a curve too wide and came over into my lane. I was on my Spyder and that probably saved me cos he was only inches from my front fender before he swerved back into his lane. If I'd been driving my car, he would have nailed me for sure.

The second one was a deer standing ON the fog line in a blind corner. The guy on a Harley in front of me nearly laid it down trying to move away from it. All I could do was aim towards the direction I wanted to go, duck my head and drive on through. Thankfully, the deer didn't move.

There were two more instances of absolute STUPIDITY that didn't involve me personally. In two separate occurrences, miles apart, impatient drivers passed other cars in no passing areas at insane speeds forcing oncoming traffic off the road. It really makes me hate to have to drive anywhere anymore!

So, I am very thankful to be home again safely.

I did good this weekend and today so far as my nutrition. Can't really work out like I need to until this shoulder thing calms down. But I am doing what I can.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on what's going on with you . . . but I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone's doing.

Time for me to get horizontal!!!

I bet those stressed events really made you tense back up some...but glad you are feeling better. I have had back surgery and am afraid to use a chiropractor..but I used to before that and loved it. Now it is also a money issue.

Glad you made it through your close calls safely. I do not know what is up with people. I was riding in a 30 mph school zone with a double yellow line. Someone came storming up behind me then went flying around. Tonight some woman was in her SUV and on the back of my trike and the little hesitation during shifting I thought she was going to nail me. People just do not seem to care as long as they do not get caught.

It's all about defensive driving isn't it! Hope your shoulder is feeling better soon. Wouldn't it be nice if we were given extra packages of body parts when we were born like the little packages of buttons and threat you get when you buy a new sweater - LOL!

The traffic here in New Zealand is just as bad hubby drives 8 hours a day and he is pleased to get off the road when we get home, very stressful.

Glad you made it home safely. Some people get stupid when they get behind the wheel. Of course, deer aren't to bright at any time. Hope your shoulder is better soon and you can get back at it.

Those close calls are scarier on a bike than in a car. I'm glad you are OK.

I have only had one close call in my four years of riding. I'm so glad you are ok!

I wish everyone would just slow down and take breath. Is getting where you are going five minutes sooner really worth jeopardizing lives, on two, three or four wheels??!

Cat-- I love the mouse and the moon image! And, little mouse is so wise. I'm glad you got home safe...those were creepily close calls. Some days it feels like there's crazy dust in the air just for the purpose of making it unsafe to be on the roads. I know how frustrating the pain thing is. I hate those days when I just have to give in to it. Sigh. I hope it eases up soon for you. --Lou
