Pantry list for WC

Monday, June 17, 2013

The latest WC asked all of us to make a grocery list of staples we keep in our kitchen to be prepared to eat healthy at all times. My mom always taught me keep my kitchen stocked, so I have a running grocery list in my head all the time.

Here is what I keep on hand:

Quinoa
Whole wheat flour
brown rice
whole wheat pasta
peanut butter, crunchy w/no added sugar
WASA crispbread crackers
nuts, raw & roasted
carrots
celery
romaine
greens--chard, collards, spinach, etc.
tomatoes
onions
garlic
apples
oranges
lemons
soy milk
lowfat plain yogurt

I get a CSA box every two weeks with a variety of organic fruits & vegetables. I can opt out of the things I don't like (melons, iceberg lettuce, okra) and really enjoy the variety. I found out I like beets, celeriac, pears, and other things I had never bought at the store or the farmer's market.

Eating healthy food isn't a problem for me, its more an issue of portion size and emotional eating. But happy to share what I keep in my kitchen!
