No Sugar - Day 1

Monday, June 17, 2013

It's been a quiet day, so perfect for starting this no sugar challenge. My son is spending the day at his Nana and Papa's, so I know he's having fun!

The intense cravings set in around 2:00pm, and if there had been anything sweet around I would have inhaled it. Thank goodness I prepared the house for this.

I am still eating fruit because it's the processed sugars that I just can't seem to eat in moderation - at all. And I've been using those processed sugars to shove me through my day energy wise. Unfortunately, I am sooooo tired today! I keep trying to work on things, but have to lie down just to recoup so I can do a little bit more. I sure hope tomorrow is better.

My legs have been burning a lot lately too. Darn fibro. The burning has moved up my legs through the day to mid-thigh. Most likely it will stop there, but it will probably grow in intensity by this evening. Hands and forearms are burning too. I also use sugar as a comfort, so this is one of the things that are hard to just sit with. I really hope cutting out sugar actually helps this problem over time.

I made a motivation sheet for myself that lists all the reasons I want to be healthy! I taped it inside a cabinet door in our kitchen and put one where I'll see it every morning and evening at bedtime. I'm hoping to stay more focused by reminding myself of my long term goals. This is about feeling better, reducing my pain levels, reducing cholesterol, sleeping better, breathing better, and being able to play more with my family.

You can do it, just hang in there. After a week it gets much easier.
Sugar is as addicting as caffine, it takes your body some time to adjust.
Stay Strong,
Continued SUCCESS!
