well, today's been full of good news :) my Gracie is finally acting more like herself. she's on day 11 of a potential 3 week long heat cycle, and it's her first one (she's only 10 months), so she's been utterly miserable, the poor thing. I think it's all the new attention to her crotch by other dogs and the not understanding what's going on since it's her first one. but she's doing a little better. she was happy to see me this morning, and listened fantastically on our walk, and she even ate a little bit. hopefully she'll finish off what's left at some point. oh, and in spite of her not really eating, she's holding steady at around 81 or 82 pounds. so that's not too bad, really.
the rest of the good news is that the boy and I are both waiting on a call from his father's work - him for an apprentice electrician position and me for temp work, placing signs in the front yards of businesses and stuff. money's money, and since the boy's current workplace (as well as multiple other places) don't seem to want to call me back, then I'll take this and run with it. I'm not ecstatic about having to drive all over NH, NJ, MA, RI, and CT, because trying to read street signs and highway signs while driving makes me carsick, but the puppy will be coming with me during the day (can't leave her alone, there's no one there to take her outside when she has to go and our yard isn't fenced... and I wouldn't leave her tied up outside in summer even if we had a fence. I've seen dogs climb fences to get to a bitch in heat before, and she's too young for babies. she'll be fixed as soon as she finished going through this one and the swelling goes down, we only let her have this one because it was recommended for her bones. she's part mastiff, apparently it's good for them, I don't know.) but I can take someone else with me if I want, so I suppose I could always call my mom or someone and just ask them to help me navigate.
