Long Overdo Update

Monday, June 17, 2013

Guess it's been a while since I've blogged. I used to be so good about it. I've been busy working on my health issues and fitness minutes and cleaning and.... So I decided that I should update those of you who've been following my journey.

Regarding my health issues - the only issue I'm dealing with right now is the heartburn and indigestion issues. I'm still having them, but not as bad. Since I don't have acid reflux, it's been said it's bile reflux. I take the same medications, but with one, I have to dissolve it in water - which is a pain in the rear. Insurance won't cover the liquid form. I've also got a new stomach pain, which I went to the gastro MD about. He's concerned and when I mentioned colon issues,, he said that was what he was thinking. So, since we've done tons of tests already, I now get to have the "fun" colonoscopy. Regular people don't get them until their 50, but I'm "special" and get to have one in my 30s. I'm not looking forward to this at all.

I've been working here and there - just filling in when I'm needed - about once a week. The guy that I've been helping, Fred, is now going to need me every Friday. So I FINALLY have one steady client. I like helping Fred and his cats. He's a nice man with nice cats and nice family and he lives close by. It's an easy job too - I get paid to help him (very little) and read whatever book I bring with me.

I'm gaining weight an it's driving me nuts. I was so upset about it that when hubby and I went out to eat the other day I totally cheated and had THREE slices of pepperoni pizza and one of his crusts. I don't usually eat that much. I just figured that since I've been eating healthier and gaining weight, I might as well eat what I want. I know, it's not a good attitude, but it's just driving me nuts and I don't know what to do. I'm so close to goal weight too. UGH!!!

It's been raining a lot here in Mass., so when it's not actually raining, hubby and I are outside. We walk and hike. We'll probably bicycle again soon. Sometimes he goes fishing and I read a book. Of course it was beautiful on Saturday and I had to work 'til 1:30.

Sorry about what is going on for you. Hope and pray the doctor can find the right solution. I would always tell them to make me happy during my colonscopy and it was over before I even knew it. The best news now that I am over 80 (84 actually) I don't have to have them anymore. So you see you have something to look forward too. emoticon emoticon

First -- I'm sorry to hear about the new stomach pains and test. Hopefully you get some answers soon. I can't imagine how difficult it must be.

Second -- Yay for finally getting your own client! Glad you like him too!

Third -- I'm sorry to hear that you are gaining weight while being healthy. Maybe it's time to change some things up?

Good to hear from you!

I love Mass. We lived there 12 years and I had 3 children there in Boston.

I've had colonoscopies and they were not so bad because they sedated me which was almost like general anesthesia an I went to sleep. When I woke up I said "when are you going to do it?" They laughed. I felt nothing during or after. No sensation that anything down there had been disturbed. The idea of it was worse that the actual procedure. Just tell them you don't want to be aware of it.

Maybe they can get to the bottom of your health issues. Sorry about the pun but I couldn't help myself. I had my first colonoscopy last year (my first although a bit late). Yes, I am in my 50's. Our pharmacist told me how some people make it easier to drink the fluid before the test. You will do fine. I don't like to be unconscious and I had my adult daughter come and get me when I was done. It wasn't near as bad as I expected. Hope you get some answers with this test and I hope it's an easy fix. emoticon emoticon
