Well, here it is. I'm 36 - stand 5'3 - overweight - hitting 190.5 lbs. I haven't been physically active in about 3 years, until today! I made a promise to myself that I was going to change. It's all about keeping motivated (not sure how I will accomplish this, but hey... I have to do it).
I worked out to Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - Level 1 dvd! - This is day 1 - THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE, however, I did make it through the video. At two particular points during the workout I marched on the spot, for fear of a heart attack, but after about 5 seconds, returned to the exercise. I can honestly say that I have never panted like that in my life. I am actually quite impressed at the burn you feel. It's not what I would call high impact, and I think any beginner should be able to start with this program. You just can't give up.
Hint: If doing the 30 minute shred, as a beginner, use 2-3lb weights and have a set of 5lb weights on hand in case you need heavier. Chest Flyes and back rows, I used 5lbs. Every other weight exercise I used 3lbs. I'm sure this will increase as time goes on.
Although excited about my new personal challenge, I dread day 2 - (just repeating what I did this morning) - but although I dread it, I actually can't wait to do it again. After you accomplish it... you feel great (after the shower -- trust me, you'll need one).
Tonight I'm going to do Jillian's 6 week 6 pack dvd. Although it is a difficult circuit, I really don't feel that 20-30min of exercise is going to be enough to lose weight - but I know my stamina can not handle both of these workouts back-to-back.
I'll let you know how 6Week 6Pack goes - oh... and I want everyone to know, that I just like Jillian Michaels - she is a great motivational tool and I know she can help me get the results I want through a dvd!
