Incredible day at the museum

Sunday, June 16, 2013

I had the most unique experience today. I have been reading a fantastic book by the same auther as The Historian, one of my favorite books ever. It's called The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova.

Her writing style pulls you in so deeply that all I could think about as I read it is how much I loved Art History. The book talks about a modern day painter and goes back to Impressionists and other era's of art. The last few days I've really felt like the best way to really enjoy this book would be to go to the Art Museum and sit and read there.

This morning I got up and decided that's what I had to do. I can't begin to describe what it felt like to read the words about Monet's use of light and glance over at one and see it for myself. It was absolutely amazing. I really felt like I was a part of the book. I've never had that experience before.

I just had to write it down, even though I am not doing the moment justice!

I almost bought that book a while back because it's subject intrigued me so! I am an artist and would love to read this in the gallery as you do! What a great idea! I assume from your blog you live in Rochester, as do I ...maybe we could meet up sometime at a coffee shop to talk...i want to hear how your Tons of Fun project is going...as my son, Matt Avery works for Yellow Jacket timing with Fleet Feet there in Brighton, and is always encouraging me to try new things with Fleet Feet! I walked with a FF team two years ago in the fall...and I'm considering their Walk to Run program this fall! emoticon

My favourite thing to do when I lived in Ottawa was to go to the National Art Gallery with a book! Calm, peaceful, loved it! I am glad you enjoyed it, do it more often!
