Sunday - Wonderful day

Sunday, June 16, 2013

Here are some more pictures of the canning class yesterday...
Below lots of herbs from SFA gardens with which we made pesto and herb oils.

And we canned tomatoes..

And we made blueberry jam...

Today we had a great service and the sermon was out of Ephesians 5 and 6. After church we took DH to his favorite restaurant and then to pick up some strawberries on sale. 40 lbs to be exact which I will put up in the freezer. (Secret tip - when you wash and clean strawberries, lay them flat on a cookie sheet to freeze to separately; then bag them.)

And the 8th of the 71 "trust" Psalms...
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. Psalm 16:1

God bless us with safety in Your refuge.

I've canned and froze things for years. Not as much now as when the kids were home and we grew a truck garden to sell produce at two of the local farmers market. Whatever was left from the day, I put up. Never did any herb infused oils though, that sounds pretty cool! None of our crops are ready here, do have some really green golf ball sized tomatoes I'm watching closely though!

Love this. What a great idea to have a class. I live in a country community where everyone already knows how to do all this. It is second nature. I did can a few times years ago but have totally forgotten how. I bet you'll be a canning fool now!

This reminds me of the days when the children were young (before med school), and canning was routinely done.
