Friday night I came home from work and finished cleaning my house to get ready for my wellness workshop Saturday morning. Made my homemade granola bars a day ahead since they taste better the second day. Then we went grocery shopping at Woodman's, which is a HUGE grocery store with 2 full aisles of just Gluten Free items and a huge variety of every flavor of every brand of everything imaginable. Took us 2 hours!
Saturday I got up early to finish getting ready for the workshop. I got the ingredients for the granola bars ready in containers so I could show everyone how to make them like a regular cooking show. :) Everyone got here and we got started. I did the Circle of LIfe exercise with everyone where you figure out what areas of your life need work, showed everyone how to make the granola bars and then talked a little about health coaching and what it can do for people. Then my friend did a presentation about Arbonne, which is a cosmetic company that uses all natural items in their products and she did a mini facial with the guests. After that, my friend talked about massage, essential oils and a little reflexology. It was really fun and I had a great time teaching. I will DEFINITELY do it again!
After that, we went to a graduation party for our neighbor's daughter. We had a fun time but the park double booked the shelter and she booked it over the phone without paperwork so we had to move. The other guy had the paperwork and his name was on the shelter. She was pretty upset. After that we went to church and then went to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law. Ken and I still had to do our 3 mile training walk so we decided to walk home and my sister drove our car and my daughter to our house while we walked. :) It did start to rain a bit but not too much and it was a good walk.
This morning we slept in but then Ken and I went about 40 minutes away to a state park to hike. We had 8 miles on the schedule today so we started off. It rained a lot last night so we expected it to be muddy but there were several spots where it was FULL of mud and they had little wood planks over it. I hate mud and am still a little unstable because of my knee still recovering from surgery so I was not too happy but it was tolerable. Until we got HERE:
I mean REALLY!????!!!! Logs over a RIVER??? As part of the trail? Jeesh! This did NOT make me happy. Luckily, it wasn't that way for too long after this part and it got MUCH better later on as far as the mud goes. But then the HILLS started! YAY! I actually love hills. My fitbit says I climbed 81 flights of stairs today because it includes hills so that ROCKS! What I DON'T love about hills is actually walking DOWN them. Frankly, it hurts my knees and today was no exception. There was an observation tower there and the view was totally worth it. But that was what killed my quads and then we had to go down hill for quite a long while. That was the worst part but it was very beautiful. Here are a few pics:
We got the 8 miles done, exhausted and hot but feeling successful. After the drive home we went to Ken's brother's house for Father's Day and just got home a little while ago. Today's weather was FANTASTIC and it was really awesome being outside!
