First, Happy Father's Day to any dads who may read this.
All in all, it has been a very good weekend, at least for me. Hopefully my husband feels the same way. Yesterday, the city my husband and I work in, had a downtown "Expo for the senses". We were able to park where my husband works (and he had to work yesterday). My oldest, the kid (the youngest), and I went. The boy (the middle son) had to work, but he wouldn't have wanted to go anyway, not with us, maybe friends.
The kid got face painted into a zombie first. He and my oldest attempted a rock climbing wall. Neither did especially well with that, but in addition to not having the skill set for such a thing, they also both are a bit afraid of heights. I was the first to go on the zip line. I have always wanted to do this and since it was free, this was my chance.
First of all, that harness they put on you, is TIGHT! You can NOT stand up straight in it. But you don't feel it at all when you're flying done the line. It only lasted for 6 seconds and it was an hour of standing in line for that 6 second journey, but it was worth it.
The boys went a little later (we staggered ourselves in line so the oldest could hold my back pack and so I could give him some feedback to prepare himself for this attempt). The kid tried first. He was okay for the harness. He was okay taking the tall metal steps to the top, he was okay getting hooked on, and then they spun the little cage around (guess what I forgot to warn him about?) so he could go, and he lost his balance and panicked. He almost went, but then changed his mind. He was devastated the rest of the day. The oldest did fine, but was the only one who yelled (in Japanese no less) some sort of bellowing quote.
While we were in line, someone dressed as The Scream (by Edvard Munch) was walking around, so I managed to get a photo of he and the kid. In the background, my oldest is standing with his arms folded across his chest.
Today, my husband, the kid, and I spent a few hours in Plymouth (where the puritans landed) on the water front. We ate lunch, had ice cream, and did a fair amount of walking under blue skies (a rarity for this month's weather). I can't wait to go camping next week!
When we got home, the oldest informed us that he has a job interview tomorrow!!! It's with Best Buy and within 5 miles of our house, so it would be great if he got it.
