The Life that is.....

Sunday, June 16, 2013

" My life has been happy because I have had wonderful friends and plenty of interesting work to do. I seldom think about my limitations , and they never make me sad, Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times, but it is vague like a breeze among flowers , The wind passes , and the flowers are content." Helen Keller

I so love Helen Keller what a great role model and a great quote.

Today is Father's Day. My own father left the family when I was thirteen, There are few happy memories because he was an alcoholic. Like Helen there is a yearning of what my life would have been like if he was a good father , but I am content.

Just last month I got to see first hand the special love of a father when my father in-law passed away. All the lovely family pictures and memories. All the kind words and life lessons. He always included me in the family as if I was his own daughter and I will never forget that or his love. How lucky I was.

There are so many people without Fathers on this day. so many mothers ,grandpas uncles, and brothers and more have stepped in to fill the void. Know that you are loved by many on this day and every day. That you never walk alone.

Never spend a long time yearning for a different life , or lamenting your limitations. Be happy for the life you have . Find your strengths and run with them. Be strong brave and positive. Just like Helen says wait for the wind to pass, because it will.

Sounds like you had an awesome Father-in-law!! I took my dad and dh out to dinner for Father's day yesterday. I told my dad I wanted to still take him out to lunch sometime, just the two of us. I think that would be fun!!
Have a nice day my friend!! emoticon

I am glad you have good memories of your father in law. He sounds like he was a special person and I'm glad he had a positive influence on your life. If Helen Keller can have such a bright outlook on life then certainly we can too! emoticon

Very nice, blog. Your father-in-law was there to fill a that void and he sure did, I can tell how much you loved him. He is the kind of person who helps us be strong and kind everyday because of the loving memory they leave.
I hope you had a good day today, I did. emoticon

So true that we have to be content with the life that we have and not wish for something that is beyond our control. I am so happy that you had a father in law that was there for you and was a father in love!
Have a wonderful day with your husband and kids as they celebrate their wonderful dad!

Helen Keller was one amazing woman, that's for sure! When I think about her life, I can't help but be reminded of all that I have to be thankful for. I am so sorry to hear about the situation with your father. I lost my father when I was quite young, too, and Father's Day can still be somewhat depressing for that reason. But your blog is inspiring me to let some of that sadness go, and remember the happy memories.
