I can eat ANYTHING

That's right, I eat anything that I want to. This is one reason why I am in love with Sparkpeople. I have been on those plans that tell you what you can and can not eat, this is probably why I am still fat. I have not shared my goals with many people. Mainly because I don't want to get the "here we go again look", makes me want to smack them. So I have shared my goals with the people that I know will support me. I was at a family function a few weeks back and I have a family members who is on a diet, lol, diet that never works we all know it has to be a lifestyle change. Anyway, she was watching me eat and she knows that I am on SP, she says OMG you are eating cake, you will never lose weight eating cake. I just giggled and said, maybe not, but I am not hungry, then walked away. I knew that I was planning to enjoy myself at this function so I planned, had a nice filling low cal breakfast and snack, so when I got to the function I could be more relaxed about my choices. I had mostly veggies and the host even grilled some chicken just for me, awww I am special. So yes I had cake. I spoke with her this morning (weigh in day) and she told me that her diet wasn't working she has moved on to something else. She asked about me and I was happy o tell her that I had lost 10 pounds. She made up an excuse to get off the phone.

As many of us have learned it is not all about what you eat, it is about a healthy balance. emoticon Spark on my friends emoticon

Awesome!! It is SO much about making OVERALL healthy choices. Following the 80/20 "rule" makes me feel so much better in general, and I don't beat myself up if I want to have that piece of cake!

Don't you just love how everyone has an opinion? Even when what they themselves are doing isn't working? Stick with what you know! You'll get there . . . slow and steady. . . enjoying life. While others will be starting at the starting line - over and over and over again. emoticon

I love it! She may check out Spark without even saying something to you. What I heard from you is you PLANNED for your function---that's half the battle. You were assertive and held your ground---good for you! You are doing super! Keep it up and keep Sparking! emoticon emoticon

Isn't it great?! That makes it soooo much easier not having to deprive yourself of the fun foods. Just plan ahead and you can have it! If you didn't get to plan ahead, it's still not the end of the world. Just make other adjustments. Good for you, sweetie! I'm so proud of you!

Exactly. Planning and preparation is half the battle...actually probably most of the battle. Good job being strong and not letting her get you down. Keep on doing what works for YOU. No two people will have the same journey, you have to find your balance and just believe in yourself. You got this!

That's exactly why I can still eat ice cream almost every day without losing progress or feeling guilt - it's about planning and portion size. Congrats on the weight loss!

Portion control is the end all be all and getting variety in our nutrition. I have so many people that believe you can't eat certain things. It is about education and following through.

I agree, it's not what you eat, it's how much of it you eat. + I am not on a "diet", I am changing bad eating habits for good ones. Blessings to you..............

    Hahahahahahahahahaha!

I kind of feel sorry for that person, though. *sigh*
It's not easy, but we do know that diets are extremely unsuccessful.

I get people telling me all the time not to eat bananas, (or all fruit, or carrots, etc.). I always tell them - bananas, carrots and other fruits and veggies are NOT why I am fat, it's the cakes and cookies that I OVERate that were the problem!

Well done on your success, and I wish you all the best as you continue to reach for your healthy goals.

I always love getting "advice" from people who are insisting I have to be miserable and suffer to lose weight. I do not subscribe to that theory anymore and I've lost 40+ lbs. Stay true to what works for you.

Here here, That is the trouble, I have friends say "you can't eat that you are on a diet" I say " oh that is why I have lost 40lbs then".

Yes it is all about portion control and getting that right is most of the battle.

I bet like me you don't get it right all the time.

emoticon on the 10 lbs

Have a great week
