Ode to Dad!

Sunday, June 16, 2013

This was my Dad----with himself, and son#2 the pilot and son #4, the Policeman.
My Dad used to live in Florida----
After my Mom passed, we had to get Dad all new winter clothes---
He put them on for this picture-never wore the jacket again--LOL-----said it was too heavy--
I loved my Dad----
He had a sense of humour-----lived to be 96 with no health problems----thought his 5 children were the "cat's meow"---enjoyed my 5 children--and to him, I could do no wrong!
.............. my Dad and my Mom--with himself and I
I miss him terribly----I think about him every day--with everything I do----
I know that this sounds weird, but I feel his presence around me a lot-----
Dads are special----
This was my Dad in younger days---with his brother--and his Father--my Grampa-
So I stop and thank Dad for always being with me--I love you so so very much!
..myself with Mom and Dad many moons ago---vacationing in Florida

Awww, what treasured memories, what wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing this.

My Dad is my hero. I feel totally blessed that @ 86 we can still enjoy his company. Wonderful man. He taught me so much about how to treat people, enjoying music, enjoying gardening, enjoying soup!!!

HUGS and Happy Father's Day to Himself!

Thanks for sharing, Lynda. Great pictures of your dad and your family. You were so lucky to have your dad with you for such a long time. Sadly I did not. My dad passed away way too young at the age of 56 when I was 23. He was truly a unique individual. All my life he called me Bridget instead of Pat because that is what he wanted to name me. It created a lot of confusion when my friends would call and he would tell them no Pat lived there. They soon learned to call and ask for Bridget if my dad answered. My best friend growing up was named Annmarie so every friend I had was Annmarie to him. He would say Annmarie was here looking for you and I would say no I was just with Annmarie who was it? and his reply would of course be Annmarie. Then I would have to get him to describe my friend so I could figure out who it was. He was a real character. My mom was lucky enough to marry again to a wonderful man, a family friend, who was a bit older than she was (she was 63 and he was 73-they were married 15 years before he passed away at the age of 88. He had never had children and was the only grandfather my children ever knew and he was ever bit as wonderful a grandfather as I like to think my dad would have been. My mother was so lucky to have been married to two such wonderful men who adored her and treated her like a queen. Now I am so very lucky to be married to my childhood sweetheart who is (even as exasperating as he can be) as wonderful as both men my mom was married to.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO HIMSELF and to Sons #1 through #4!!!!

Thanks for walking with me down memory lane!!

Have a very stupendous Sunday!!!
