I Am Blessed!

On 6/11 I saw my PCP who informed me that the IVC Filter is actually causing a life-threatening situation. She got on the phone to a Dr. Porter, who is an Interventional Radiologist. This all started at 5:00 p.m. At 8:20 a.m. on the 12th, I received a phone call to be at our hospital and report to the Surgery Window. In no time at all, my husband, John, had me there and before I knew what was going on, I was being prepared for surgery and the removal of this thing I know referred to as "the Alien"!
My head was spinning with the overload of info about the "alien" , the risks, the potential complications and the possibility of being flown to Phoenix, AZ. if he was unsuccessful in removing it
John and I prayed together and in no time I was in a surgical suite. I was under what is known as "Conscious Sedation" because I had to be partially awake to move my head and neck. (The had to go through my jugular vein with a little camera and cannula). It seemed like forever, and I was king of in-&-out of it.
After what seemed like hours, Dr. Porter loudly proclaimed "GOD IS GOOD - I got the whole thing out!" Everyone in the surgical suite began clapping and I was crying tears of joy and relief!!!
I am home now, recuperating and in total amazement that they got this 1.25 inch alien with multiple "legs" bent all over the place out through my jugular vein. Believe it or not, I only have the tiniest incision, and although sore, I have no more severe back pain that had me in constant spasm with no relief!
I am so blessed and ever so grateful the Lord had guided the Dr.'s hands and mind. I look forward to getting better each day and getting back into a fitness regime again.
I truly will celebrate each and every day as the wonderful gift that it is!!
