Laughing at myself...

Saturday, June 15, 2013

I decided to take it easy today and only walk the dog for my exercise. Of course, we walked over 12 miles, so maybe I am not taking it easy after all. I have to laugh at myself though, because I knew I couldn't keep myself from covering some miles today. Cooper was happy about it. He wanted to run this afternoon, so we ran intervals for a while. With him that means running from signpost to signpost, so he can pee on them. Funny dog! emoticon

I did much better with food today. In fact my macronutrient percentages are almost perfect. That doesn't happen all that often. I try to eat 50% carbs, 20% protein and 30% fat. It works for me. I tend to run a little high on fat, and low on protein, but not today. I had a lovely salad for dinner tonight. I mixed sweet corn, pinto beans, brown rice and salsa and put it on a bed of fresh picked greens (from my parents' garden this afternoon), then shredded a little cheddar on top. It is very tasty! Lunch I had with my parents. I have missed the last couple Saturdays, because I was out kayaking with my brother. Today I walked the dog out to their house, made lunch, helped my dad clean up, picked some lettuce, then came home. It is my normal routine for Saturdays that I am not out in my kayak. My mom is not doing too well. She has a heart condition among other things, and walks with a cane all the time now. Today it looked like she is retaining fluid again. I worry about her.

I found out this morning that we are having a family dinner tomorrow night to celebrate both Father's Day and my youngest niece's 7th birthday. Turns out everyone else in my family has known for about a week, but they forget to tell me. Oops, good thing I asked if we were doing anything!

Your salad sounds delish. I love fresh picked veggies in a salad. So "treat but not bad for you" food!

Remember, by taking care of yourself you are making sure that you will be there for your mom. I know how hard and stressful it is to worry about a loved ones health. Hopefully her Dr. can get things back in balance. Hugs

Your salad sounds yummy! Your walk sounds amazing. Even back when I was young and in good enough shape to go backpacking, 12 miles at one go was a long walk. I'm always amazed at how active you are. Sounds like another great day. Glad you found out about tomorrow!

That is a very long walk! My dogs would never go that distance. I've found that 2 miles is their max. :D
