Change to my Paleo challenge...

Saturday, June 15, 2013

No, no, I'm not giving up on it. Au contraire! I'm extending it until the 13th of July.
I know it seems like a random date but it isn't. My Zumba/Bokwa teacher has asked a few of us to do a Zumba/Bokwa demonstration during a street festival on the 13th of July. We've done it before. It usually lasts about 20 minutes and although, at first, you're thinking "Oh no! What have I left myself in for?", once the music starts you just forget about the people watching you and you just have fun!

I want to keep up with my Paleo challenge until then to see if I can bring more changes to my body i.e. lean out and muscle up! emoticon

So I've changed the end date of this challenge on my ticker: 27 days to go. I've been going for 2 weeks now and although, there have been and still are some tough moments (making a sandwich for my son's lunch was one of those tough moments: that bread was mighty tempting), I am feeling amazingly well on this diet. The biggest change for me so far is not suffering from painful bloating at the end of more or less every day anymore.
I'm not saying I will stay 100% Paleo for the rest of my life, but this experience is making me question whether or not I will reintroduce quite as many grains as I used to eat before.

There will, however, be two days during which the Paleo diet will pretty much go out of the window. First, on the 28th of June: I'll be having a Girls Night In at mine's as an early birthday celebration and there are new things I want to cook for my friends and a few of those recipes aren't Paleo + there WILL be alcohol!!
Secondly, on the 30th of June: this is my actual birthday. My son and I are going out for a meal and a movie. There WILL be treats and I can guarantee they won't all be Paleo-friendly. Not that I care cos it'll be my birthday!! emoticon

But talking about Zumba/Bokwa demonstrations, it is not the first time I've made a fool of myself in the streets. Here I am, Zumba-ing in the street last April:

And, as if that were not enough, here I am Bokwa-ing in the street during the Freedom Festival in September last year:

Just a couple of food pics today -

1) The breakfast of champions! Omelette made with WHOLE eggs (I don't like this "egg white" business - the goodness is in the yolk!), tomatoes and fresh parsley:

2) A beautiful salad taken from River Cottage Veg Every Day: Tahini-dressed salad of courgette and green beans:

emoticon I also forgot to let you know that I passed part 2 of my Holistic Nutrition course. I am now getting starting on part 3 and the lessons are Calories, Proteins and Amino Acids and Diet Theories.

emoticon Before I sign off, thank you to everyone who left a cheery and encouraging comment on my previous blog. I had a bad beginning to my day but things got better and your kind words helped me there. You guys are the best! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good night Sparkfriends! emoticon

Whole egg is correct. The public is mislead about cholesterol in foods. It's beyond ridiculous with people throwing out the best part of eggs.

That zumba/bokwa sounds like an amazingly fun time! LOVE the pictures of you doing it previously. And I totally agree about the egg thing. I usually use one whole egg with 2 egg whites. Food looks great! emoticon
