It takes so little...

Saturday, June 15, 2013

I took a brisk walk downtown on the bike path for a gift today and as I was walking along at my fastest 60-year-old pace i heard someone come up behind me on my left. The first words I heard were "Damn it..." and as I started thinking "sigh, another grumpy man" he finished with ..."you're walking faster than I'm running." I was the only other person there at that moment, so as this very fit, 40-something year old guy ran past me with a thumbs up, I laughed out loud and replied "No I'm not, but thank you."
And then I continued on the path with a goofy grin on my face. That guy made my day. It takes so little to acknowledge another person's efforts, even if we don't know them. I am grateful he reminded me of that, and hope I can pay better attention to the opportunities i have to do the same!

Just read this and chuckled, think I might have been that person last night on my evening walk, although I was burning off frustrations by walking quickly... lol! emoticon

I just adore people like that! I've been running into a lot of them (no pun intended) since I started Couch to 5K.

I love this story. It means we all have the capacity to create "a goofy grin" on someone's face.
