Best laid plans .... meet stomach flu + six kids

Saturday, June 15, 2013

Seriously I wonder sometimes if I should even try. I am somewhat frustrated that I joined the BLC challenge because I just can't get it together and don't want to let the team down...

This morning I planned breakfast, got up, made coffee, not even one cup down and baby girl (8 months) threw up and was crying... I get her situated and began getting breakfast for the others and my 12 year old threw up from one end of the living room to the other trying to make it to bathroom... sigh... No breakfast for me, by the time all babies were cleaned and breakfast was picked up, it was cleaning up...

Made lunch, I planned a big salad and some ground beef and onion mix from pastured ground beef I get locally. Of course, one of the kids set the fridge on the wrong setting and the salad was frozen solid. There went a ton of organic veggies down the drain, no saving frozen lettuce :( so it was ground beef wth a handful of blueberries.

Dinner is planned but who knows what chaos will ensue between now and then? I have 2 puking kids, more are sure to follow... My intention is to make meatballs full of fresh parsley and basil, with fresh zucchini and a red onion, tomato, basil salad. No lettuce needed :) My calories will be low again but it is what it is...

Oh you poor thing. I can understand your frustration. Please dont leave the challenge - just make the plans you have more flexible - so your frustration and disappointment is less. I hope the tummy bug leaves your house soon!

I have had my son home with asthma all week - and I had had some serious exercise work planned for myself. I am not good when out of routine. I am TERRIBLE when I have high expetations (and deep disappointments). As you may have noticed it's not so much handling the expectations, but those disappointments, that become the real challenge.

I wish you all the best, and a gentle quiet strength to handle whatever comes your way.

Ugh! Real life strikes again!! =)

Real life always tries to derail the best laid Spark plans! But you won't let it! =) Focus on what's important right now - loved ones are sick. That trumps all. Is it going to derail you from your goals and set you back? Nope! You're just gonna do what? The best you can. Because that's all you have to give and no one expects more. Hang in there! You'll get through this. =) We got your back!

Sorry about your rough day! Don't worry about letting us down. You will fight back!

One little thought in case you ever have frozen lettuce again... I blend it into my smoothies with no issues.

Hope your family is well soon!

emoticon about the sick kiddos and your planned meals going down the drain emoticon .

Can you have some protein shakes already mixed on hand. The Muscle Milk kind have no milk. I pick them up when I'm traveling. Also try to low sugar Kind Bars that I talked about. Not sure if any of your allergen foods are in them. This way you can add about 200 calories to your day and lot of protein.

Hang in there. emoticon
We are Ninja strong emoticon
