So, it's roughly been a month since I've been seriously on the plan, one month since I wrote my entry Mother's Day:
I've had my ups and downs, even had a couple days I lost my "streak" of tracking food because it was just crazy and ate out more times than I had expected to. But I kept going. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change and it's got to work with life! It's not a perfect score routine for a day or a week, it's how to live and HOW TO ENJOY LIFE. So, one month in, and I can see results.
Victories, Large and Small:
Better choices: Doing the "subway run" with people from work once a week, I go for the healthier choice options, not that spicy italian sandwich I love, but way too fatty.
I'm cooking more: I've been blogging my quasi-successes. I keep learning from them! Today, it'll be enchilada night. That'll last me a couple meals.
Energy: I wrote in my first blog that I had to park close to the door because I got so winded. One day last week, I had to arrive late, parked in "Timbuktu", and had to drag computer case, briefcase, my purse, and my lunch bag with me. I walked my normal pace, and when I arrived, for a change, I wasn't gasping for breath by the time I arrived.
Motivation is still high. The Spark Solution got me interested in reading the "prequel", the Spark
, which I got out of the library digitally. It's interesting reading more the history of the site and reinforcing a lot of the motivational messages. It explained more the concept of the streaks and the things on the site, so it may help me with navigating it (I still get very lost around here). One day I read the fitness section while riding my exercise bike! Heh, kismet.
Fitness Victory: Two days ago, bad thunderstorms had gone through the area with more expected. There was a break in the weather (radar confirmed nothing for another couple hours). I could've sat in the cozy house away from the puddles, but why not walk? I knew the progress I was making, I should keep this "streak" going. I think that's one of my biggest victories to date...outside the one(s) listed below...
My body measurements (this is the first "progress" report): I'm mostly the same, although up an inch in thigh and hips. I figure an inch either way may be me fumbling with the tape measure, though I try and double check. It's hard when my tape measure doesn't fit all the way AROUND my hips and I have to "move the goal posts". A short term goal will be to lose enough so I can measure my hips with the tape measure only going around me once!
However the measuring had a couple bright spots too. My calf was down an inch, still maybe fumbling error, but at least it was in my favor. And WAIST WAS DOWN THREE INCHES! Whee!!! That I triple checked.
Little Turtle Progress
(I'm tempted to call my little weight tracker mascot "Aesop", after the fable that inspired me picking him, but I'm getting kind of hooked on just keeping him "Little Turtle")
One month in, and I've lost 9.5 pounds!
There's been some ups and downs and statics in there, but there's been some ups and downs and statics in my plan, so I figure victory Happy Snoopy Dance!
Overall very pleased.
