A Learning Experience

I went to IHOP yesterday for lunch with my two daughters. It was decided upon to go while we were out shopping so I didn't do my usual look up of nutrition facts first. I could have used my phone to do it, but I felt like it would slow down everyone's ordering so I didn't do it. They had a chicken sandwich served with a small fruit bowl on the healthy menu at 410 calories. They also had a similar chicken sandwich served with fries, of course, no calories listed. I made the unwise choice of picking the sandwich with the fries. When I got home I looked up the calorie count. Wow, the sandwich with the fries was 1230 calories. I ended up just having a vegetable smoothie for dinner to stay within my calorie range. I am making a vow to myself to, if at all possible, look up foods beforehand, or just in general make what I already know is the better choice.

  emoticon to you for sticking to your calorie range for dinner. A lot of people (including myself) might have said forget it and just eat a regular meal. You showed you had a lot of will power and self-control. emoticon

    It's surprising how much is hidden in those pretty restaurant menu pictures. Good on you for staying within your range afterwards.

    Restaurant meals can be so calories packed! I've picked a healthy sounding menu choice to later find out it's over 1000 calories.
